A "good" teacherThis time we are talking about a very big topic! A "GOOD" TEACHER! That was an excellent discussion with many insights, thank you, Stefano and Suzane! Table of contents below (click the arrow on the right!), add your opinion in comments! ---------------------------- 00:30 – new idea for the start! 10 minutes of insight! :) 01:35 – Alisa’s idea – using the second language (not mother tongue!) for explanations! 04:10 – Stefano’s story – about the Chinese student who is more interests in culture and rules, so we had a nice discussion about explaining culture to students, rather than 11:10 – Susana’s impressions 12:20 – Alisa’s news – Middlbury school – incredible full immersion language school!!! http://www.middlebury.edu/ls 18:20 – announcing the topic A “GOOD” TEACHER 18:36 – what is it – “a good teacher” Is there a definition? Stefano talking about flexible methods, personal experience with a student, and asking the question “if you realize that something is not working what should we do improve”? 22: 31 – Suzana suggests self-development, learning new things and implementing them. As well, she names another key point – empathy. Also – listening to the student, asking – like a doctor :) 25:30 – Alisa suggests to ask the student for suggestions (preferably after you thoroughly thought over what you want to do) 30:44 – being anxious of being a “bad“ teacher – what are we afraid of? 32:15 – brainstorm “good-teacher is”
42:20 – Finding out that a student is taking lessons with other teachers 47:00 – pricing for different languages 53:45 – last question - how can we know that we are getting better? ;)
