ONLY TARGET LANGUAGE? There are some "holy cows" in language-teaching, one of them - using only the target language in the classroom. There are advocates and haters of the approach. Which side are you at? :)

What out students teach usWe fit into 60 min this time, which is great, on the one hand (Mrs. P, we didn't keep talking without you for too long!)
On the other hand, it always feels like it's never enough, because there is always too much to say :D Especially today, when half of our time we dedicated to certain urgent teachers' issues, such as recent stories, insights and questions, discussing the possibility of group lessons... (Daniela, sunch a pity you didn't make it this time!) And I think we have the next topic! "Using (or avoiding using) other that target language at a lesson" and even the one after next "the art of questioning"! Hope to see you all again at our next meetup (November 18th? same time?), Alisa Our topic today was - Difficult StudentIt was a special meeting for me, because I love the way our discussion was developing – I felt like it was more like friends’ chat rather that guided panel! Thank you, thank you all for making it happen! ------CONTENTS-----
(click "read more" on the right to open ) A "good" teacherThis time we are talking about a very big topic! A "GOOD" TEACHER! That was an excellent discussion with many insights, thank you, Stefano and Suzane!
Table of contents below (click the arrow on the right!), add your opinion in comments! ---------------------------- A "good" teacherWill take place on 26th of August, 18:30 GMT+3 (https://zoom.us/j/469987209)! We will discuss questions such as - What makes one a good teacher – student\teacher perspective - Do you consider yourself a good teacher? - Tips\advice for being a good teacher - How can we tell if a student is satisfied with your teaching method? (Thank you, Stefano, for the question!) - How can we know we’ve gotten better at teaching from when we started to now (again, Stefano – thank you!) - Add yours! As well, I really want to dedicate some time to discussing some organizational issues, such as – how was the last recorded meetup, do you think it worked? In general - are we on the right track? Should we keep going? Should we keep the biweekly pace? How do we attract more teachers? Do we \ should we keep it closed for italki teachers only? Etc, etc.. So, see you soon, Yours, Alisa Teaching online vs offlineFor this meetup we decided to collect recorded contributions from different teachers, so, scroll down to see several videos! So far, the participants - Suzana (she also wrote a very extensive article about it! Here, have a look - https://www.verbling.com/articles/post/is-it-good-to-take-online-lessons) Murillo Alisa *These are the first entries, but I'm waiting for more!
The topic for our next meeting is - "ONLINE VS OFFLINE TEACHING."
And our next meet-up date was supposed to be - the 12th of August. Here, I have something to ask you. 12th of August is my birthday. And (you all understand me!) I would prefer not to spend this evening in front of the screen again... What shall I do... So... I had AN IDEA!!! [click read more - on the right! ------------------> ]

The topic was "When will I speak the language?" How do we answer this question? Is there an answer at all? And what are the benchmarks of language-learning? Can we measure it? ------TABLE OF CONTENTS------- [click read more - on the right! ------------------> ] |
